LoMap a la EARTHscope

There is a lot to discover about LoMap and the Green Mapping process! You can find out more about the map, how it was made, community mapping, and how to get involved. See fabulous illustration by LoMap's Youth Mapmaker in the Media Player and excerpts from the YouthVISION video (a creation of Kellon Innocent and Kenneth Bennette).

You don't have to download nor install any software or driver to enjoy this new and animated website.

The Buckminster Fuller Institute (BFI) teamed up with Green Map System to breathe animation and interactivity into LoMap life on the Web and help tell the exciting LoMap eco-story to a wider audience. Begun in 2003, it's about 95% complete now, please explore it anytime. (Note: the 2004 PDF LoMap has updated data.)

The EARTHscope is an extension of Buckminster Fuller's lifelong commitment to promoting world literacy about human resources, trends and needs. A library of local participatory mapping projects like LoMap -- where kids (or adults) chart their own community assets and challenges will help build a picture of our planet that most people would otherwise never see. These perspectives and sustainability issues are often invisible at even a local level until the map-making process brings them to light.

Click BFI to learn more about Bucky's amazing legacy. Green Map is excited to promote this and other important mapping projects through the ES initiative. Tune in to EARTHscope.com for other geo-story projects updates.
