Green Apple Map
LoMap
LoMap is a colorful youth-authored Green Map of Lower Manhattan.

This vibrant guide was first published on paper and on-line (at GreenMap.org/lomap) in April 2001, then completely updated and reprinted in summer 2004, then published as an interactive resource in 2006. LoMap offers a wide range of sites and features, and includes a Spanish, Chinese and English legend (reflecting the most widely spoken languages of the lower Manhattan neighborhoods it charts).

LoMap is dedicated to NYC's youth. This "close-up" edition of the Green Apple Map brings together the expressions of youth from different neighborhoods, backgrounds and age groups, from 7 to 19. LoMap includes youth and family-oriented natural and cultural sites that have been nominated, described and drawn by a diverse group of about 250 young people!

LoMap's unique method of creation was carefully documented and led to the development of a step-by-step manual for making a nominations-based Green Map in other communities, which has since become a nice addition to Green Map System's suite of youth Green Mapmaking resources (find out more in GreenMap.org, our global site's Participate section!)

LoMap's Print Edition
Currently, we are out of printed copies. But, below you can download an electronic version of the map. Or, if you are interested in sponsoring a reprinting, please contact us at apple@greenmap.org. Special thanks to Greenacre Foundation and New York City Environmental Fund for supporting this effort from 2000-2001, and again in 2004.
