Welcome!
Welcome to the Green Apple Map website, the local portal for Green Map System in New York City! We hope you’ll find this recently-updated site to be rich with information, maps, stories, tools and resources.
Use the top right navigation links to jump to the sections you are interested in, and use the left side links to explore in detail. “Breadcrumbs” at the top of the center column reveal the trail you have taken, making it easy to return. Read on to learn about the various sections of this site.
“Introduction” includes background on our local project and global program, our news and events. Find great ways to support us here, too.
At “Our NYC Maps”, you can find links and descriptions for our various citywide maps, neighborhood maps and themed maps created by our in-house Green Mapmaking team with the help of many interns, volunteers and community collaborators. Find educational resources for all ages here too, including some in Chinese and Spanish!
Under “Allied NYC Maps” you’ll find youth-authored maps, community projects and online travelogues created by students. We believe deeply in the power of community engagement and youth leadership!
In the “About Us” section, find out more about our history, promotional resources and the Green Apple brand, our team and getting involved as a Mapmaker, intern or supporter, complete contact information and more. And the handy “Site Map” shows the layout of this entire website.
If you would like further information, please let us know. We’d love to get your feedback, too!
And...coming soon!
We continue to update and expand our Green Apple Map collection to bring important issues to light in a way that encourages new habits and everyday actions for a better NYC, such as our recent editions about Energy and Composting. Soon, you’ll see our newest maps online - both the Green Schools Green Map, which will provide insights into K-12 schools’ green projects, programs, purchasing and physical plant improvements, and the Global Green Map, an open interactive compendium of sites, commentary and ratings based on a Google Map that will of course, spotlight NYC’s green sites. Check out the video about this upcoming project below. We look forward to your insightful contributions to this map!
