Greening up NYC is a continuous process -- we need your help to keep making new Green Maps, work with young people and communities, and develop materials and events to meet this ongoing challenge. We welcome gifts of cash, stock transfers, purchases at our Green Map Store and in-kind donations of needed services and expertise to support everything we do. And it’s all tax-deductible to you!
Ways to Support the Green Apple Map projects:
• Mail a check to Green Map System, PO Box 249, NYC 10002 (optional: write "Green Apple Map" on the memo line). Yes, we are a 501c3 organization, and our EIN is 13-4062346.
• Use our Global Giving ‘badge’ (click Give now or the link on the right) to send us a donation. In January 2008, we have a good chance to win $50,000, thanks to contributors like you!! Your $10 gift here can help us enormously!
• If you are a New Yorker, while you are switching your electricity over to green wind power at NewWindEnergy.com/nyc, you can select our name to forward a nice donation to us at no extra cost to you. We selected wind power for Green Map’s office in 2005!
• Make a purchase online at our Green Map Store! Contact us at 212.674.1631 or apple@greenmap.org to discuss your ideas – perhaps you would like to discuss funding the printing of a new free-to-the-public Green Apple Map or become a content partner on the forthcoming Global Green Map, help us with schools and community outreach or support our events? We look forward to hearing from you!
Supporters
The Green Apple Map has had wonderful supporters throughout its history.
Our longtime funder, New York City Environmental Fund, has been instrumental since 1997, when this project was under the fiscal umbrella of Architects, Designers and Planners for Social Responsibility, and after we got our 501c3 status in 2000. Greenacre Foundation has been a repeat funder of our Manhattan projects, too. Both have supported every Green Map we have published over the last decade.
Our first citywide map was sponsored by the Municipal Art Society in 1992; the third editions's first 65,000 copies were sponsored by Metropolis Magazine and Interface, Inc. in 1997; and in 2000, Earth Day New York sponsored the fourth edition's 100,000 copy press run.
LoMap’s 2000-2001 supporters include NYCEF and Greenacre, along with New York Community Trust, Deutschebank Americas Foundation and Chase Manhattan Foundation. In 2004, Greenacre and NYCEF supported the 30,000 copies of LoMap 2. In 2006-07, we have Buckminster Fuller Institute to thank for the interactive EarthScope version of LoMap!
Supporters for Green Map System's first benefit celebration in 2002 included Materials For The Arts, Five Borough Bicycle Club and 1st Rochdale's Green Apple program, Ben & Jerry's, Candle Cafe, Doughnut Plant, Herban Kitchen, Fireboat John J. Harvey, Pier 63 Maritime, and Zipcar New York.
Powerful Green Map of NYC’s 2006 edition supporters include NYCEF, Greenacre, The Durst Organization, altPOWER, Inc. , Community Energy - New Wind Energy, Inc. , NRDC, Race Age Inc., Angelica Kitchen, Outstanding Renewal Enterprises, Environmental Construction Outfitters, Better World Club, Chris Benedict RA, CUNY's Graduate Center Continuing and Public Education Program, and a wonderful anonymous donor, too!
Compost Green Map of Manhattan 2006 and 2007 – thanks again to NYCEF and Greenacre!
